Delhi Metro: There is great news for lakhs of passengers traveling in Delhi Metro, which is called the lifeline of Delhi and NCR. Now passengers will get superfast internet connectivity during their journey in the metro. For this, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken a big decision. This facility will be available on all corridors of Delhi Metro and Airport Express Line. To complete this project, DMRC has tied up with Backhaul Digital Technology.
700 km long optical fiber network
To ensure internet connectivity in Delhi Metro, DMRC has decided to lay a 700 km long optical fiber network. Under this project, better telecom infrastructure will be created in all the corridors of Delhi Metro, so that passengers traveling in the metro will get 5G connectivity. This decision has been taken under the Delhi-NCR Smart City Project, so that passengers can get digital facilities.

DMRC made a big deal
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has tied up with Backhaul Digital Technology for this project. Under this, better telecom connectivity and data center infrastructure will be developed inside and outside the metro. Through this network, all major telecom companies will be able to strengthen their 5G network coverage. This will get rid of the problem of call drops and internet connectivity faced by passengers at metro stations, tunnels and underground routes.
Pink and Magenta lines will get the facility in the first phase
DMRC announced this partnership from its official X (formerly Twitter) handle. It said that the optical fiber cable will be laid in a phased manner.
In the first phase, the network of Pink Line and Magenta Line will be upgraded.
This work will be completed in both these corridors within the next 6 months.
After this, the work of laying optical fiber will be started in other metro corridors.
What will be the benefit to the passengers?
Fast internet inside the metro – Now passengers will get fast 5G internet while traveling in the metro, so that they can do video streaming, calling and browsing without any interruption.
Freedom from the problem of call drop – Often there is a problem of call disconnection and weak network on tunnels and underground routes. This problem will be overcome through optical fiber line.

DMRC said that this step will help in realizing the Digital India mission of the Government of India. 5G network is expanding rapidly in India and this move of Delhi Metro will make internet connectivity more seamless. This will provide more convenient and efficient connectivity to daily commuters.
