Rekha Gupta has taken oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi, marking the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) return to power in the capital after 27 years. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Ramlila Maidan on February 20, 2025, with several prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in attendance. Gupta, a 50-year-old former student leader, began her political journey in 1992 at Delhi University. She has previously served as a three-time councillor and as the mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation. In the recent elections, she won the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency, defeating AAP’s Bandana Kumari.
