Indian PM Narendra Modi will visit Thailand and Sri Lanka in April 2025. According to information released by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Prime Minister Modi will be in Bangkok, Thailand on 3-4 April 2025. During this visit, he will attend the sixth meeting of BIMSTEC countries on April 4, which is being organized by Thailand. Thailand’s Prime Minister Poetongtorn Shinawatra has invited Prime Minister Modi to attend this meeting.
Importance of BIMSTEC meeting
This physical meeting of BIMSTEC countries is taking place after the fourth BIMSTEC summit held in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2018. The fifth BIMSTEC summit was held virtually in Colombo, Sri Lanka in March 2022. At the sixth BIMSTEC summit, leaders of the countries can discuss measures to further encourage cooperation. India has taken several initiatives in BIMSTEC to strengthen regional cooperation and partnership, such as promoting security, trade and investment, establishing physical, maritime and digital connectivity, cooperation in food, energy, climate and human security, promoting capacity building and skill development and encouraging people-to-people ties.

Meeting of PM Modi and Prime Minister of Thailand
Prime Minister Modi will meet the Prime Minister of Thailand on 3 April 2025. In this meeting, the leaders of the two countries will review bilateral cooperation and find ways to further the partnership between the two countries in the future. PM Modi’s visit to Sri Lanka
After this, Prime Minister Modi will visit Sri Lanka from 4-6 April 2025. Sri Lankan President Anura Kumar Dissanayaka has invited Prime Minister Modi for this visit. During this visit, Prime Minister Modi will discuss various issues with the Sri Lankan President. Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi will visit Anuradhapura, where he will inaugurate development projects implemented with Indian financial assistance.
