Tensions between India and Pakistan are constantly increasing after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) administration has imposed emergency restrictions due to the sudden rise in the water level in the Jhelum river. The order issued on April 25 said that the leaves and transfers of all health workers have been stopped with immediate effect. Citing the emergency situation in this order, the Health Directorate of Jhelum Valley said that the medical staff posted in all hospitals and health units have been instructed to remain at their respective duty sites.
What is written in the order?
The order issued said, “In view of the emergency situation arising in the country, the in-charge of all health centers have been instructed to always keep doctors, paramedical staff and ambulance drivers ready at the district headquarters hospital and all medical centers, so that any untoward incident can be dealt with. Also, the medical officers and paramedical staff of all health centers have been asked that the employees who are already on leave should cancel their leave and obtain written permission from the office before leaving their duty site. If any negligence is found, disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned doctors/paramedical staff. This order will come into effect with immediate effect.”

Protests in Pakistan
The Pakistan Occupied Kashmir administration has taken this step suddenly, which can be seen as a panic created after Pakistan’s action against India. Indian security agencies are also taking this emergency order seriously. According to intelligence reports, it is feared that military or terrorist activities may increase near the Line of Control (LoC), especially around the Pahalgam area. Rallies were organized in Karachi in Pakistan against India’s aggressive behavior and in support of the Pakistani army. These rallies could be a sign of increasing tension in Pakistan and possible military retaliation against India.
Increasing tension between India and Pakistan
India and Pakistan relations have become more tense since the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Indian security agencies believe that this emergency order of Pakistan and the protests organized after it reflect the panic created inside Pakistan. Apart from this, India’s security agencies are also alert about possible military or terrorist activities near the Line of Control. At such a time, the situation between the two countries can become even more delicate, and any kind of violence or provocation can further increase tension in the relations between the two countries.
Tensions between India and Pakistan are constantly increasing, especially since the emergency order has been issued regarding health workers in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. This order as well as the protests and rallies taking place in Pakistan indicate that there is pressure somewhere in Pakistan to take some big step against India. Given the seriousness of the situation, it is time for both countries to keep the situation under control through peaceful measures.
