Samsung has launched its new smartphone Galaxy A36, which is the successor to its previous model Galaxy A35. This smartphone has new AI features and a slight improvement in the display size. The design of the camera module has also changed and now it is in a vertical pill-shaped layout. Its starting price has been kept at ₹ 32,999, and at this price it competes with companies like Motorola, Nothing, OnePlus and Vivo.
What is the new design?
The design of the Galaxy A36 hasn’t changed much, but the new layout of the camera module gives it a fresh look. The camera rings have now been replaced by a vertical pill-shaped design, which gives the phone a new look. However, this design creates a bit of wobbling when the phone is placed on a flat surface.
The Awesome Lavender color variant looks particularly attractive. The back panel has a light gradient finish, which looks very good in light. Also, the phone has IP67 water and dust resistance, but now some rival companies are also offering IP68 and IP69 ratings. Samsung has made the Galaxy A36 lightweight, making it more comfortable to hold and operate.
What is special about the display?
The Galaxy A36 now features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display that comes with an FHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080p), a 120Hz refresh rate, 1200 nits of brightness, and HDR10+ support. The display is one of the phone’s strongest features, delivering brilliant colours and deep blacks.

Moreover, the high brightness of this display ensures good visibility even in direct sunlight, while the 120Hz refresh rate benefits give users a smooth and fluid scrolling experience. Whether gaming or watching videos, the display on the Galaxy A36 offers a brilliant and immersive experience.
Software and AI Features
The Galaxy A36 runs on One UI 7.0, which is based on Android 15. Samsung has promised six generations of OS updates and six years of security patches for this phone, which is a big plus point for smartphone users.
It also comes with several AI features. The AI Select feature makes Smart Select smarter, allowing users to copy text from photos, create GIFs and even design wallpapers from images. Google’s Circle to Search is also present, which helps in finding information about any object visible on the screen.
How is the performance?
The Galaxy A36 is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4nm) processor, which is a newer option from Samsung’s Exynos platform. It has an 8 core processor (4x Cortex-A78 @ 2.4GHz & 4x Cortex-A55 @ 1.8GHz) and 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage.
The phone works well for any kind of normal tasks like social media browsing, texting and video calling. In terms of gaming, it can run games like COD: Mobile and BGMI, but it is not designed for high-end gaming. The GPU is also not that powerful in this segment.
How is the camera?
The Galaxy A36 has the same camera setup as the previous model – a 50 MP primary camera, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 5 MP macro lens. However, the selfie camera has been reduced from 13 MP to 12 MP.
During the day, the primary and ultrawide cameras take good quality photos, with good colours and details. 5 MP macro cam
Portrait shots show excellent subject separation and natural skin tones. Night photos show improvement, especially when manual night mode is turned on. The quality of photos in manual mode is much better than automatic night mode.
The Samsung Galaxy A36 is a good mid-range smartphone with some great features like a great display, long software support and smart AI features. While its performance is fine for some light tasks, the phone is not powerful enough for high-end gaming enthusiasts. With its camera and display features, it still remains a strong contender in its segment.
