Samsung Investment: Samsung, the world’s leading electronics company, has announced an investment of Rs 1000 crore in one of its manufacturing units located in Tamil Nadu. The company has taken this decision at a time when the employees went on strike here a few months ago. In the month of September, the employees demonstrated under the banner of Central of Indian Trade Union (CITU) at the Sriperumbudur plant near Chennai. Their demands were related to the company’s recognition of the union, improving working hours and increasing wages.
These products are made in Sriperumbudur plant
Tamil Nadu Industry Minister Dr TRB Raja has confirmed this new investment of Samsung on social media. He said that this investment will create 100 new jobs in the Sriperumbudur plant. Many electronic products like fridge, washing machine and television are manufactured in this plant. During the year 2022-23, products worth about US $ 12 billion were sold from here. This plant is very important for Samsung’s operations in India.

Tamil Nadu has the highest number of factories in the country, setting an example
Tamil Nadu is constantly making big records in terms of investment. Between May 2021 and March 2025, the state has attracted investments worth Rs 10.14 lakh crore. This has led to the creation of 32 lakh jobs in sectors like automobile semiconductors and technical textiles. Tamil Nadu has 31,517 manufacturing units so far, which is the highest in the country. It is followed by Maharashtra with 20,739 factories. It is clear from this that Tamil Nadu has become a trusted destination for investors.
Samsung earns huge profits from this plant
Samsung’s Sriperumbudur plant is very important for the company. More than 2000 employees are working here right now. According to the data for the financial year 2022-23, this plant alone has contributed about one-fifth of Samsung’s total sales of Rs 1 lakh crore across the country. The new investment will not only increase production capacity but will also open up new employment opportunities for local people. This move of the company shows that it wants to further strengthen its business in India, especially in Tamil Nadu.
