Questions have once again started being raised about Air India. National Congress Party (NCP) Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule has expressed displeasure over the frequent delays in Air India flights and has demanded the central government to hold the airline responsible. Sule said that flight delays have now become a regular process, which is completely unacceptable to the passengers. Earlier, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had accused Air India of allocating broken seats.
Supriya Sule’s complaint: Repeated delays are unacceptable
Supriya Sule posted on social media platform X that she was travelling on Air India flight AI0508, which was running 1 hour 19 minutes late. “This has become a habit due to which passengers have to face problems. This is completely unacceptable,” she wrote. Sule appealed to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to hold airlines like Air India accountable for frequent flight delays and impose strict rules for better service to passengers.
Sule added, “We pay premium fares, yet the flights never arrive on time. Professionals, children and the elderly all suffer due to this confusion. I request the Civil Aviation Minister to take action and hold Air India responsible.”
Air India’s clarification: Delay due to operational problems
Air India responded to Supriya Sule’s post, saying that they understand that flight delays can be very frustrating for passengers. The airline said, “There are certain operational issues that are beyond our control and may affect flight schedules. Your flight to Mumbai today was delayed by one hour due to such issues. We appreciate your understanding.”
Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s displeasure: Air India accused of broken seats
Some time ago, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had also expressed displeasure over the service of Air India. He had said that when he booked a ticket from Air India, he was allotted a broken seat, which was sunken from inside. When he asked the flight attendants if this seat was bad, the staff told that the management was already informed that this seat was bad and its ticket should not be sold. Chouhan said, “In my opinion, the service of Air India should have improved after the takeover by the Tata management, but it proved to be my misconception. Is this not cheating the passengers?”
Response to allegations against Air India: What steps will be taken?
Air India’s response to Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s allegations raised the question whether Air India will improve its service or will it continue taking advantage of the helplessness of passengers. Chauhan said that Air India should ensure that no passenger has to face such problems in future. Will the Air India management take action in this matter, or will this fraud with passengers be ignored?
It is clear from the allegations of Supriya Sule and Shivraj Singh Chauhan that Air India’s services need improvement. The frequent delays in flights and poor seat allocations are causing inconvenience to passengers, which cannot be ignored. The government and the Civil Aviation Ministry are expected to take strict measures to hold Air India accountable, so that passengers can get a better experience and there is transparency in the operations of the airline.
