On February 16, 2025, Prakriti Lamsal, a third-year B.Tech student from Nepal studying at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar, was found dead in her hostel room in what appears to be a suicide. Following the incident, authorities arrested 21-year-old Advik Srivastava, a fellow student from Lucknow, in connection with the case.
